1 out of 5 stars Cracked crock - again   November 2, 2008
It's too bad I didn't know about the crock breakage problems before purchasing this unit. This slow cooker could have been wonderful because it has so much going for it but all of these benefits are worthless since the crock breaks. I'm on my second crock and I have only used the unit four times. Kitchen Aid doesn't even manufacture slow cookers anymore so I can only assume it is because of problems like these.

1 out of 5 stars How many times?   November 2, 2008
I originally bought this slow cooker the first of August, 2008. The first time I used it, I noticed burnt liquid underneath the crock when I removed it. After carefully washing the crock, I noticed a hairline crack down the side and across the bottom. I called Amazon and they replaced the whole unit. I've used the new unit about three times and today I noticed after using it that I now have a crack in the same place on the new unit. I will be calling Kitchenaid on Monday. According to the forum on Kitchenaid's website, this seems to be a constant problem. I wonder how many time I'll have to have the unit replaced.

5 out of 5 stars Great buy!!!   October 31, 2008
I am completely satisfied with my purchase. It works as specified, is easy to clean, and holds a lot of food which is great for a large family gathering.

5 out of 5 stars KitchenAid KSC700OB 7-Quart Slow Cooker   October 30, 2008
This Slow cooker was purchased for my wife. Her profession is cooking and has been for some 30 plus years. She owns several brands of crock pots and all of them work well. However, they only have at the most 3 settings, low, medium and auto shift. The KitchenAid has more settings and allows better control over any item to be prepared. My wife has used this product on several main course meals that she has prepared in the other conventional crock pots before and we both agree the end results are far superior in visual display, not overcooked and most important of all, flavor. We have since given the conventional crock pots away and will purchase another KitchenAid for when we need more than one to prepare meals for family get-togethers or large social functions. We give this item 5 stars and wish only that this product was available in a 18 to 22 quart size to accomodate large turkeys, hams and prime ribs/roasts.

1 out of 5 stars Serious problem   October 28, 2008
KitchenAid has a serious problem with this product. I am now on my third attempt to get a crockpot that will not break. I have had two of the ceramic inserts crack across the bottom; the second insert cracked on the second usage after 30 minutes. It was so loud, I could hear it crack in another room. Customer Service has always taken the defective parts back, and assure me that the problem has happened to only a few units. The KitchenAid site, however, tells another story. This problem is not isolated. They have a defective product and instead of fixing the problem, they are sending out replacements that are also defective. The last time I talked to Customer Service I was told that the wiring in the unit sometimes got too hot because the wires were not of a uniform size, and this can happen in a manufacturing situation. I think not--this either is poor quality control or a design flaw. Now, I am afraid to leave the slow cooker unattended. Frankly, I will think twice before buying another KitchenAid product. UPDATE: I received total new unit on Friday; tried to use it Wednesday and the crock cracked. I want my money back, but probably will not get it. KitchenAid seems to think that a replacement substitutes for a working product. Absolutely, do NOT buy this product.
