CUISINART BFP-10CH NOT SO MUCH August 29, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This blender looks good but.... I bought it primarily for smoothies, and the processor, boasted a strong amp/hp motor. The first unit burned out the motor with a 3/4 full container of mix after the third use. I contacted amazon who referred me to CUISINART, their rep. told me to send it in for repair (3 weeks after purchase) and give them a credit card for shipping charges and repair charges, she was not surprised it quit. So I again called Amazon and was answered by their India branch, and filed a complaint, they handled it by sending me a new unit and a call tag from UPS (great service). The second blender is working fine, but don't be impressed by its Large Chrome Plated Plastic Base and large container size, the motor is not capable of handling large loads and will overheat. I suspect this unit will not last long and I will have to purchase a Vita-Mix or a unit with a larger motor. I would not buy again, CUISINART, like too many, has given it up to china, God help the USA. Too many USA based companies continue to show that they owe nothing to the USA for product quality, loyalty and have sold out their consumers for much larger profits by having products made in china and charge the same price as if it were made it the U.S.
Cuisinart BFP-10 ch August 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had a refubished BFP-703 that quit working. The nice thing about this blender is the the blender jar and food processer attachment I saved fit this model. It is much more powerful and really works great.
I recomend it. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

A Word of Caution - can its motor handle smoothies? July 14, 2008 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
After the motor burned out making smoothies with our old Cuisinart blender we bought the Cuisinart PowerBlend 600 7-Speed to replace it. I was attracted by the 600-watt motor and 56 ounce capacity. I noticed the manual said on page 5:
"Note: Add liguid ingredients first, then follow with solid ingredients. This will provide more consistent blending and prevent unnecessary stress on the motor."
So I started with 2 cups of orange juice and two bananas, started on the stir speed and worked up to liquefy, then added 4 scoops of soy protein powder and then slowly added 1/2 bag of frozen fruit. Other than an electical smell, I thought all was well and figured the smell was due to light oil burning off on the motors first use. I then added a few ice cubes and the thing stopped dead! I turned it off, unplugged it, let it cool down for an hour but never could get the thing to work again. Apparently the motor burned out. Calling support was no help other than recommending I return it.
If you plan on filling any of the SPB-10 series blenders near the top to make smoothies for a family of four I'd look elsewhere. I don't think the motors can handle blending liquids with the consistency of a thick shake when filled near the top.
Two motors burned out July 8, 2008 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Bought this unit because it was sleek looking and seemed to offer good value for the money. Save your money. With anything other than the lightest load, the motor let out a burning odor. And then it crapped out. I returned it and got another...it lasted slightly longer, but then the motor crapped out again.
