Product Description Rival skillets offer value-added features to provide families extra convenience for quick, easy, and delicious meals. The Rival S12-GN 12-inch square skillet features a non-stick interior and exterior and a glass lid that can also be used as a serving dish. The textured cooking surface means less oil is needed for healthier cooking, and for easy serving, the handles are cool to the touch. The aluminum die cast skillet is fully immersible and dishwasher safe with the temperature control probe removed.
Amazon.com Review This 12-inch-square electric skillet from Rival adds cooking surface to a busy kitchen without unduly burdening the dish-doer. Made with an aluminum die-cast body, the unit features nonstick coating inside and out for less grease in cooking and easier cleanup. A clever bumpy pattern on the interior bottom minimizes the contact between food and excess grease even further. Fitted with a removable, adjustable temperature control probe, the skillet ranges from warm to 400 degrees F and includes a helpful ready light. A tempered glass lid lets you track cooking progress without loss of moisture and heat, and its stay-cool handle is kind to fingers. Compact enough to bring to the table, the skillet is fully immersible and dishwasher-safe without its temperature control. It measures 12 by 15 by 7 inches, handle and lid included, and carries a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

Works great! July 17, 2008 This works great. The non-stick surface is still non-stick after many uses. I mainly use this to make Mexican sausage or fried pork. It prevents a mess especially oil by using the glass lid.
Could be a little deeper. December 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been a Rival skillet fan for years now, I love them and every few years when I need to replace mine, I buy another Rival. This skillet does have dimples in the surface, and so it has the potential to get bits of food stuck in them when cooking, but that's easily fixed by a quick light spray of Pam. Yes non-stick means you shouldn't have to spray, but trust me, it makes clean up so much easier. And if you do get food stuck, here's a simple trick. Fill the bottom of the pan with hot water and lay a dryer fabric softener sheet in the bottom for 10-20 minutes. The stuck bits come right off! Then wash your pan as usual with dish soap, and no problem!
The only issue I have with this skillet is that it's not quite as deep as the last Rival electric skillet I had. It seems much more shallow, but I love it anyway.
Great Appliance! November 7, 2007 I purchased this electric skillet to use in my RV. What a versatile item it proved to be! Breakfast, lunch, and dinners proved to be a snap in this appliance, and allowed me to use the electric provided in camp instead of my propane gas. The temperature control helped me to easily manage the cooking time for stews, potatoes, roasts, etc., but also, the simple foods like eggs, bacon, and pancakes for breakfast. Cleaning the skillet was easy, too. I'm pleased with the puchase, and the savings each trip I take.

I purchased this skillet 8 month ago and I'm now looking for another skillet. This Rival has hot spots so cooking is uneven. Cleanup is hampered by the clever bumpy bottom. The little bumps fill with food particles and a plastic scrub brush is required to remove food. Also the teflon coating is flaking off.
I love this skillet! April 29, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this skillet two years ago and use it at least four times a week or more. I love it - it works perfectly! It has a temperature control so you easily control how the food is cooked, the lid fits together well and the whole thing is easy to clean - I wipe it out and put it in the dishwasher (the plug/heating part separates so you can do this). It doesn't take up a lot of counterspace, is well built, lightweight and easy to handle. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about this skillet. I use it like a mini-oven to bake - it bakes quicker than my regular oven. I've had no real problems with sticking. The way the cooking surface is made, I think it keeps the grease from being fried into the food. I use it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
