HOW TO CLEAN GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL June 11, 2008 THE GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL IS VERY EASY TO CLEAN IF YOU FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE DIRECTIONS: AFTER GRILLING IS COMPLETE, UNPLUG UNIT, SET NEXT TO KITCHEN SINK SO IT WILL DRAIN INTO SINK. OPEN UNIT, SPRAY WITH HOT WATER ON BOTTOM GRILL AND UPPER GRILL. I USE A SINK SPRAYER, GENTLY SPRAY TOP SO IT WILL NOT SPILL ONTO COUNTER, SPRAY HARDER ON BOTTOM GRILL. PUT DOWN LID, LET STAND WHILE YOU EAT DINNER. AFTER DINNER, WIPE WITH WET PAPER TOWEL TO REMOVE MOST OF THE DRIPPINGS, RE-WET GRILLS AND PLACE LID DOWN WHILE YOU DO THE OTHER DISHES. THEN OPEN THE LID AND RINSE AND WIPE ONE MORE TIME, PRESTO! IT'S REALLY THAT EASY.
wedding gift May 6, 2007 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was a wedding gift so I didn't use it but wasn't overly impressed with the bells and whistles on this machine; not sure it's worth the 3 stars...but you are forced to note a star rating! Personally I have a Hamilton Beach with a timer that works just great!
Foreman Grill GR26TMR March 28, 2007 After reading good reviews on this grill, I bought it because it seemed like just what I was looking for. I was tired of cleaning my range hood frequently because of grilling meat in a large cast iron skillet. The good: The Foreman grill is easy to clean and does not smoke. The bad: the meat does not taste as good. The grill does not get as hot as the skillet. Therefore, it is not very useful to me because cleanup alone does not a good product make.
Simple, Reliable, and Quick August 19, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this product after perusing the many rave reviews of it on Amazon, and it has definately lived up to its hype.
PROS
First, the grill is unbelievably simple to use--merely plug it in, let it preheat, slab on the meat, and you have a great tasting meal in less than 15 minutes (including preheating time). Secondly, I have found it very easy to clean. Typically, most grills are quite messy and require you to dig into their surface to get the stains off. The opposite is true of the Foreman grill. Nearly everything is dishwasher safe and it comes out looking brand new. Moreover, I discovered a little trick to minimize the number of washings. I just pour drops of water over the hot grill. The water immediately boils on contact and removes most of the stains, fats, and oils left from the meat, which then drain into the collecting dish below. I next use a damp paper towel to wipe it down. Third, this product is small enough to fit anywhere on your countertop or in storage.
CONS
First, several private label knock-offs of this product are far cheaper, and they work just as well. Secondly, while the taste of the meat is great, it doesn't beat the smokey flavor that is added, for example, by a charcoal grill. On the other hand, since these outdoor charcoal units are inoperable during the cold and rainy seasons, the Foreman grill is very practicable for those who like their meat all year long.
WHY THIS PARTICULAR FOREMAN GRILL
I bought this particular Foreman Grill for two reason: it has a timer and because it can fit several chicken breasts and steaks at one time. Just be careful with the timer. It will beep to alert you when it is preheated and when finished cooking, but it will not turn off the heat. You have to manually unplug it. If you leave, for instance, a chicken breast a little to long, it will dry out. Fortunately, the product comes with a handy-dandy quide to cooking times.
Works great June 5, 2006 This product works great. My daughter uses it to cook fish, chicken, etc.
The product is small but enough for a small family (2 rounds of cooking). Beats firing up the bbq.
Cleanup is easy. Highly recommended.
