i like it November 12, 2008 after reading your reviews i must add mine... i like it. it does sound like an air craft carrier when grinding and the steam does encourage cleaning of the coffee changer regularly but is good no? i actually bought a white cuisenart coffeemaker/grinder and decided i wanted black instead so i have two grinding chambers to switch off with...therefore, is no problem for moi! the final product is a great cup of coffee...measure the coffee...one tablespoon for two cups...measure the water...final product will please.
Wonderful product, awkward to clean. November 8, 2008 This coffee maker is wonderful. It grinds the coffee beans then brews the coffee all by itself. With the thermal carafe you don't have to worry about burnt coffee like on a hotplate. It is a little loud when it grinds the beans, but that is to be expected. Also it is very awkward trying to clean all the parts. Overall, it is worth the effort for great, fresh coffee.
It's great October 30, 2008 For all the reviews that say it's too high maintenance to clean...get over it! It takes me less than 2 minutes to rinse and fill with water and beans. It's not messy, you just have to rinse out the basket (which is with any coffeemaker with the same re-usable basket) and the grinder. Unless you don't have the 30 seconds extra it takes to rinse the grinder, buy this product. Once a week or so I wipe down the inside (another minute). This is the second one I've owned and I love the freshly brewed coffee waiting for me in the morning!
Grind & Brew needs more development October 18, 2008
I bought this product based on the recommendation of a good friend. He's had the early generation Grind & Brew for several years. The older design does not include the thermal carafe.
I'm mostly disappointed in this coffee maker because of it's inferior design. There are too many pieces to clean which can too easily be broken. The grinder has no settings for grinding regular, medium or fine.
The coffee maker urgently needs additional research & development to improve the product.
There are several plastic parts that are not built for strength or durability. The first unit I received was broken as a result of the poor design and cheap plastic parts.
I had to return the first unit since the plastic guide for the slide-out apparatus which holds the basket & filter had completely sheered off the inside of the housing where the carafe sits.
Before you consider buying this coffee maker, be sure to check it out in a local store, and very carefully examine the design and function of the grinder and basket slide-out unit. You may want to consider a unit without the grinder, since with a separate grinder, you can control how course or fine you prefer your beans to be ground.
LOVE IT! August 18, 2008 It is so wonderful not having to grind beans before brewing the coffee. The machine does it all. LOVE IT!!!!!
