Nice and Hot November 13, 2008 This is a great coffee pot. My wife and I got it for a wedding gift, and it's in the top three of all wedding gifts we got!
Simple, easy design to understand and use. To do it right you do need to warm up the pot with hot water before brewing, but it's a small sacrifice for hot coffee with hot refills. Plus it saves on electricity and quality, your coffee isn't just sitting there on a hot burner.
After having it for a years, the pot is working great. I probably should replace the water filter, but haven't yet. I do notice that the pot itself has retained some coffee odor (not unexpected since I like strong coffee). I've tried to figure out the best way to clean the pot because I fear it's tainting my coffee in a negative way. The hole is too small for my hand, and the coffee smell has gotten in deep over a year. The best solution I've found so far is to use a copper scrubber, a wooden spoon, and a little hot water. Seems to have cleaned the interior of the pot up right nice, and the smell should be gone by morning once it's had a chance to dry.
Overall a great brewer. Just clean it regularly, scrub it every now and then, replace the water filter... sometime... and you'll be sippin' some fine brew, pipin' hot.
Worry-Free Coffee or Tea May 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Impressions Coffeemaker if perfect for anyone who wants to set up their coffee pot in the evening. All you do in the morning is flip the switch at the base of the unit and you have coffee in just a few minutes. The coffee maker also shuts off automatically after 17 minutes and then your coffee stays warm in the thermal carafe.
Tea drinkers may also want this beautifully designed coffeemaker because it is also perfect for making tea. Everything you make tastes better because of the unique filtering system from Brita that reduces chlorine and improves flavor.
The highlights of this coffeemaker include fun things like an "automatic filter basket release button," "Permanent gold tone filter," and "double-wall vacuum insulated stainless steel carafe." The best thing about this coffee maker is you can drink the coffee as soon as it is made and it is the perfect drinking temperature. Then, if you want more coffee later, the coffee is still warm and this works well with tea as well in the evening.
If you live in an area with hard water, you will love the water filter cartridge which allows you to make worry-free coffee all year long without needing to decalcify the coffee maker. Simply remove and replace the water filter on a regular schedule.
The smooth taste of coffee and tea will impress you and this coffeemaker also looks beautiful on the counter with its sleek design. What I love most about this coffee maker is that I can take the thermal carafe into the office while writing and have hot coffee or tea without having to return to the kitchen for another cup.
Some of the things I did notice that may cause some concern if you don't like a permanent filter - there may be some finely ground coffee in the last cup. To solve this problem, just use regular coffee filters. The permanent gold filter is easy to clean under running water and easy to remove and replace.
Also, if you like topping off your coffee with really hot coffee to keep your cup of coffee warm, this might not be the best unit since it produces coffee that is ready to drink at the perfect temperature. Also, the coffee/tea stays warmer if you use a full pot of water and less warm if you are only making say one to two cups.
The carafe - to completely empty it you almost have to turn it upside down. This may be a concern. The handle is comfortable, but the design could be improved so you can just pour the coffee normally without such an extreme measure.
A note about overflowing - If you fill the unit with the 10 cups of water as indicated on the side, it won't overflow in the coffee pot. It is almost impossible to overfill since the water won't stay in the unit and will overflow before you make the coffee.
So, if you drink coffee or tea I can recommend this to you. Mostly I love using this to make herbal tea at night or coffee in the morning.

faulty product; poor customer service January 24, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this coffee maker based on some positive reviews found here and because the brushed stainless steel look went well with our kitchen decor. Amazon delivered it promptly, but soon thereafter the problems started.
My first and biggest complaint is that the coffee coming out of the maker is not very very hot. Add a little cold milk to coffee and it's barely warm enough to drink. In addition, coffee left in the pot for more than 15 or 20 minutes is so cold that, with a little milk, the coffee actually has to be microwaved to be hot enough to drink and is sort of bitter likely from having gotten too cold.
Another issue is that occasionally the housing that contains the filter that holds the ground coffee pops open in the middle of the brewing process, causing coffee and hot water to spill all over the counter and floor. Total mess.
Frustrated with the problems, I called the Braun Service Center and they told me that I really ought to be warming my cup with hot water before I use it and that milk ought to be microwaved before being put into coffee. I've been making coffee for over 20 years now and have never had to do either of these things, but clearly in Braun's opinion the fact that the coffee isn't hot enough has nothing to do with a badly-designed maker but is rather my fault because I am not completing the absurd Braun preheating rituals.
They also said that if completing the Braun preheating rituals did not do the trick I could drive my Braun coffee maker to a service center about 30 miles from my house and that they could test it for me, but would not commit to giving me a new maker if it failed their test.
Like I said, faulty product, poor customer service. If you're looking for any coffee maker I would steer clear of all Braun products.
Super coffee & super service!!! December 15, 2007 This coffeemaker works perfectly with 1/2 cup ground beans and keeps it plenty hot for as long as needed. It was a gift for my mom and she is thrilled after years of poor-tasting coffee that gets cold in minutes. I should mention that my mom has the nickname "asbestos mouth" and so if she says the coffee stays hot then you can believe her! She received this within a few days of ordering which was ahead of the projected date. All around a great product and great service!
Look no further. May 20, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I had researched and looked at several coffeemakers in various price ranges. I've had this for about a month and have no regrets. Yes, the carafe only holds 40 ounces but all stainless carafes use the same measurement. This a very sturdy, well designed unit. No fancy timers or whistles and bells, just a good coffeemaker. The swing out filter basket is a nice feature as is the brita water filter. If you're looking for a mid-priced coffeemaker with a stainless carafe look no further.
