Product Description
Why get a burr grinder? Burr plates uniformly grind whole coffee beans, protecting delicate oils and releasing more flavor. This grinder can handle everything from ultra fine espresso grind to extra coarse percolator grind. It holds a full 1/2 pound of beans and dispenses grounds into a removable hopper.

Amazon.com Review
A stylish grinder for the serious coffee buff, this Cuisinart Supreme Grind automatic burr mill provides plenty of options and good results in an attractive and tidy structure. This makes it a great appliance for houses where coffee is a steady dietary staple and preferences vary from espresso to French drip. Outfitted with a heavy-duty motor, the machine has 18 grind settings ranging from fine to extra-coarse, which are controlled by a clearly marked, pleasantly clicking dial. Rotate the hopper to personal preference, and the machine does the rest, using burr plates for a highly uniform grind that protects bean oils and releases more flavor. Automatic operation in this grinder covers quantity as well--simply set the amount slide control anywhere from 4 to 18 cups. The grinder shuts off when the desired level is reached. Transfer of ready grounds to a coffee pot or espresso group is quick and tidy, because the grind chamber slides out with its clever lid in place.

Smart and elegant, the grinder has brushed stainless steel housing and black accents in durable plastic. The hopper, hopper lid, grinding burr, and grind chamber all remove easily for cleanup, and a safety feature keeps the grinder from operating without the hopper and chamber in place. Standing 6-3/4 by 9-3/4 by 5 inches, the unit has built-in power cord storage at its base. Cuisinart includes a coffee scoop/cleaning brush in one and covers the machine with an 18-month warranty. --Emily Bedard

4 out of 5 stars Completely satisfied   July 31, 2010
L. Beechy
Twenty years with blade grinders, and after one month with my Cuisinart burr grinder, I'm not looking back. You know how it is with the blade grinder: the guesswork on how long to grind, the unevenness of the result, the big pieces floating at the top, contributing nothing to your brew. This grinder improves the whole experience in several ways:

First, the beans are stored in the grinder. Refill every few days. Most times, though, when you're ready, the machine's ready.

Secondly, the grind is easy to select, and the results are even and uniform. This comes through in the taste of the coffee and reduces waste.

Finally, grinding is a three-touch process: turn the dial to select the coarseness you need, slide the indicator for the number of cups, and touch the "start" button. Grinding for 6 cups takes about 10 seconds and is no noisier than my blade grinder was. If you use the same coffee-making process and the same number of cups each time, this reduces to one touch: start. I make a pot in my drip machine in the morning (two clicks to the "fine" side of "medium") and a mug's worth in the french press in the evening (two clicks to the "coarse" side of "medium"). This grinder serves each process easily and quickly.

The small amount of fine powder produced in each batch is a minor problem. It clings to the holder, making it easy to separate from the grinds, but the powder also finds its way onto your counter. I've taken to laying down a paper towel, which catches everything and simplifies clean-up.

This product does its job well at a low price. It's improved my coffee and simplified my life. I'd buy it again.

1 out of 5 stars A waste of money ! Does not last!   July 30, 2010

Performance is adequate until it quits on you. We have not had this very long, maybe a year to eighteen months, and it just stopped, as others have noted. Sorry, Cuisinart, we expect performance and durability from you. I will try to clean it out, but as this is a consistent problem, Cuisinart needs to fix it before the consumer does.

I don't know why I didn't pay attention to all the reviews complaining about this model. It wasn't that great before it died (very loud; imprecise grind and amount gradations; that really annoying staticky plastic that makes grinds cling to it). I used it daily for a year or so. This morning nothing happened; it's dead. I checked attempted fixes online; no dice. Now I have to make a trip to Bed Bath and Beyond (ugh) for a grinder before I can have my damned coffee. I doubt I will ever buy another Cuisinart product.

5 out of 5 stars Personalize your grind!   July 25, 2010

I had always heard this kind of grinder was better, and it really is. Cuisinart has outdone themselves again for functionality and a great looking addition to your Cuisinart coffeemakers. I love the handy storage also if you want to grind more than one pot at a time. It will grind from almost powderlike to a coarse blend, and all easily adjusted settings in between. It even grinds to whatever cup setting you plan on brewing! I'm very happy with this grinder, it looks great sitting right next to my Cuisinart coffeemaker. Prepare to be pampered and enjoy some of the best coffee you'll ever taste. I'm definitely spoiled with this grinder and my Cuisinart coffeemaker, it just doesn't get any better!

3 out of 5 stars pros and cons   July 24, 2010

Noisy, imprecise fineness, does not grind as fine as needed for some brewing, quality control problems (top part broke once, then died after 3 years).

However, inexpensive, easy to load and empty.
