This home scissor sharpener adds a professional-level edge to a wide variety of scissors from household and sewing scissors, to kitchen shears, to fly-tying scissors without requiring the user to disassemble the blades. The freestanding ScissorPro features two sharpening slots, each containing a curved disc coated with diamond abrasives. One disc offers a fine grind to form a razor-sharp edge during the first stage of sharpening and the other a coarse grind to hone or sharpen at a wider angle and add the finishing touches. A patented construction of magnets and plastic springs that the manufacturer calls Magne-Flex technology align scissor blades in the guides at the correct angle and provide the right amount of pressure and stability for sharpening. After reading the reviews on this product, I had it on my list of 'things I really would like to have someday' for quite a while. I have tons of different types of scissors, everything from kitchen shears, sewing scissors, craft scissors for all types of crafts and crochet projects, and detail scissors for scrapbooking and card making... along with lots of childrens scissors for the grandkids to use. Seemed like everytime I picked up a pair, they were dull, and I was constantly having to buy new pairs, tossing the old ones in a box...with the thought that someday I would figure out how the heck to sharpen those in a reasonable way. Well, 'someday' arrived. I saved my money up, to finally purchase the Chef's Choice 500 ScissorPro. I read the instructions, hauled out my box of scissors, washed the goo and glu off them first, and proceeded to give it a try, starting with my least fav pair first to practice on (a pair that had a small knick in one blade). I used a papertowel to try a test cut before sharpening. It not only wouldn't cut the towel, it bent it rather than cut, lol. Then after sharpening the pair... voilaaaa...it cut like a charm...cleanly and consistently with each snip (though on this pair, I did run it through several times to even out the knick in the blade)! AMAZING!! So I moved onto the next pair, and the next. Time after time, doing test cuts before and after, on the paper towel, with each pair. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING... did I say AMAZING?! It worked so well, on literally every pair I sharpened, that I took it over to our kid's houses, had them haul out all their pairs, and sharpened theirs for them too. Now they're saving up for one, as they would like their own. I thought the price was a bit high, but considering how much I've spent over the years on scissors (and gas to have to go out shopping for more), I feel it's worth the money. I only wish I would have had this product years ago, before spending so much on scissors over the years. We also have the knife sharpener (a separate product... this scissor sharpener can't be used for knives)... but the knife sharpener works very well too. Now if they can just invent a product like this for pinking shears and decorative edge scissors.... and toenail clippers.... I purchased this at the same time as Chef'sChoice AngleSelect Knife Sharpener: Exclusive Black mostly for the kitchen, but I also have sewing scissors. I enjoy cooking and I have quality knives and scissors and I wanted to maintain that quality. I often abuse my kitchen scissors as they are sharp and readily available. I was very pleased that this product brought them back to their former glory even though they had several nicks in the blade. If it wasn't for the several birthday checks I received, I am not sure I would have justified the expense of a scissor and a knife sharpener, but I am thrilled to have them as gifts!

I am sorry ScissorPro. It is not the product, it is the company. I purchased this expensive scissor sharpener for my mother as a Christmas gift, not knowing that she had one already. When we inquired about returning the item for a refund we were told that we could not get a refund we HAD to get store credit. I have never heard of this especially ordering online and for Christmas. We had the original box, and receipt. We also contacted Amazon and they were no help. Although they were the original company I ordered from. It took a great deal of time, phone calls, and red tape and as of Feb. 15th I am yet to receive the store credit. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM AMAZON.COM OR ALL BRAND AGAIN.

I'm very happy with this purchase. My wife uses scissors quite a bit for her home-based business and it seems like we go through a pair every other month so we've got several dozen pair sitting around needing sharpening. We tired it on a couple pair and the guides worked great and the scissors were very sharp.
Great product, great price, excellent delivery turn-around. This is why I buy a lot from Amazon!
