Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars No electricity needed   October 24, 2008
No electricity is needed for this yogurt maker, it is so simple to mix, and the yogurt is the best I have ever tasted. My favorites are Peach and Vanilla, but they are all good.

The Easiyo yogurt maker is essentially a thermos bottle with an inner quart size container for the yogurt. The thermos bottle is filled with boiling water up to the red line. The design keeps the yogurt mix at about 110F for the duration of the incubation.

There are some tricks to getting it to set, however. Ignore the directions on the package - they are misleading. If you are adding sugar, dissolve the sugar in the water prior to adding the yogurt package. The yogurt water should be room temperature, not ice cold from the tap. After the boiling water is placed in the thermos there may be some air bubbles trapped under the red baffle - swirl it a little to get the air bubbles out. Be careful while swirling so boiling water does not splash out burn your hand. Prepare it in the early evening, and it is ready by morning. Do not shake or disturb it while incubating. In the morning, place the inner container in the refrigerator so it can continue setting. After it is cold, it can be transferred to another container if you wish. You can also put some of it in dessert glasses and place in the freezer - it makes great frozen yogurt.
