2 out of 5 stars Not Good   April 3, 2008
I used this to replace a rice cooker that was given to my wife and I years ago. The original unit was inexpensive and used a loose unattached lid just like this one. That cooker allowed for easy unmonitored cooking of the rice and it came out perfect every time and could sit for an hour without burning.

This unit is a totally different story. I found that the device needed more water then the directions indicated. I found the rice burned or stuck to the bottom if it was not stirred. The opening of the item to stir screwed up the timing of the cooking so you never knew when it would be done. The rice was usually too dry or too sticky. Not good at all.

I threw this away and spend just a few dollars more on a unit from Aroma that is sealed with an attached lid. Trust me. Spend a bit more. I am so happy now but not with this unit. This unit was so bad that I would not even give it away it really belongs in the trash. You would be better off just using the stove and a pot then this poorly designed and poorly functioning device.

I am rating two stars rather then one as it did cook the rice even if poorly. I also want to give it just a bit of credit as it sounds like although others are not happy with the unit I may have had the worst experience which leaves me to believe that my unit may have been sub par.

1 out of 5 stars did not last   January 2, 2008
I only had this product for a year and in that year only used it a handful of times. Even though it was well taken care of it quit working
abrubtly after a year.
