Just as advertised July 5, 2010 Guernsey Gal I use it all the time - it makes great rice and I love steaming vegetables. I bought it especially because of the delay timer so I can have the rice done even when I'm not there to start it. The only negative comes from steaming carrots because it stained the steamer orange and I can't get it off; I contacted Aroma but their suggestions didn't work. Otherwise, it's a great product.
Cute, good size, easy to clean! June 19, 2010 Stephanie N. Bowling (NE) I love my new rice cooker. It soo sleek and smooth. It has a swivel retractable cord, which is convenient not to have to tuck away a corded. The digital display is easy to read, the sushi rice mode is perfect for onigiri, nice fluffy sticky rice. The handle is nice to for haling around and the button on the top flips open nicely. It comes with a cheap ladle, I've never used but the rice paddle is nice and sturdy. It also comes with a steaming tray, I've never used but it looks like it'll work. The bowl is easy to clean out...I mean really easy. I haven't ever burnt the rice on the bottom of it, unlike the old Zojirushi (lower model). Overall good buy. I would definitely get another, but maybe a bigger one. This works for our family (5 people, 3 of them guys).
Good rice cooker for the price. April 30, 2010 Ting 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Very nice rice cooker, easy to use and clean. The white rice it cooked was very good. But I am kind of disappointed that I couldn't set delay timer to cook porridge. Otherwise I am happy with it.
Perfect white and brown rice! April 26, 2010 M. Lee (Portland, OR USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Awesome rice cooker that does the job for us! The brown rice comes out perfectly cooked as well as the white rice. It does seem to take quite some time to cook the brown rice though, about 40mins or so but is perfectly done.
Very good product, but some flaws March 13, 2010 James P. Crawley (Chicago, IL) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have used this product thus far to make great rice and fabulous, no-effort polenta. I have made standard white rice, basmati, jasmine, brown, aborio and wild rice, all with success. I have some criticisms, however. First, the instruction manual is not very useful. For the myriad of dishes that can be prepared in this rice cooker, the maker does not come with a single recipe, which I found very disappointing. Second, the inner liner is marked with rice and water levels for white rice only. If you want to make brown or wild rice, you must pull out the instruction manual for rice to water ratios. Third, the LCD display is very small and not backlit. Fourth, and I don't know it this is the same with all rice cookers, but it does take a good deal of time to make brown or wild rice. Two cups of brown rice take about 1 hour and 40 minutes to prepare.
On the plus side, the machine is very user friendly, and extremely easy to clean. As I stated at the outset, I am surprised at how good the polenta is in this machine. If you purchase this machine and do not know a lot of rice recipes, do yourself a favor a buy a good recipe book for rice cookers. Some of the better ones have recipes for all the dishes you can make in this machine, from cereals, to grains, to deserts, like applesauce or rice pudding.
Since getting the machine, we have eaten a lot more healthy grain dishes, which helps shed pounds, makes you feel satisfied longer and lowers cholesterol. This is a good machine, but just know that it comes with little guidance from the manufacturer.
