Product Description Sometimes it seems the world of appliances has no room for smaller households, the mantra seems to be "the bigger the better." However, in this case there is an exception. The Zojirushi 3 cup rice cooker makes the ideal amount of perfectly steamed, plump and tender rice for small families, or even singles (after all you can always warm up the leftovers). The non-stick removable pan is easy to clean and a glass-lid lets you keep an eye on the progress.
Amazon.com Review Busy cooks cherish rice cookers. This one cooks up to 3 cups of dry rice (white or brown) and keeps it warm up to five hours. A glass lid permits monitoring of the cooking process. Instructions and a cooking chart explain everything. A measuring cup and serving spatula are included. The cooker operates with admirable simplicity: just push a switch to start. The switch and a light turn off when cooking is completed, and the unit automatically goes into its keep-warm mode. Stay-cool handles on the cooker's sides permit it to be moved. Only plastic scrubbers and mild detergent should be used for cleaning. --Fred Brack

Good basic rice cooker September 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the third and best rice cooker that I've owned. All my rice cookers have been of this same general type -- a simple boiler pot rather than a sophisticated fuzzy logic appliance. The other two were a Rival whose non-stick surface quickly deteriorated and a Panasonic that worked adequately but was not as sturdy as this Zojirushi. I regularly make brown rice, wild rice, and steel-cut oats in this cooker and am always satisfied. It does the job quickly and well. I did have to experiment a few times to get the right amount of water for the cooked rice texture that I prefer (slightly chewy). This cooker does sputter somewhat, as do all similar cookers, but I control that by 1) always rinsing the grain, 2) adding 1 teaspoon of oil or butter per cup of grain, and 3) not cooking more than 2 cups (rice cooker cups, that is) of grain at a time. And if it sputters, so what? It's easily wiped off the counter. I don't have a problem with the fact that there's no keep-warm function, since with a pot this small a warmer would increase the likelihood of scorching. As it is, the rice will get overly brown on the bottom if not stirred up as soon as the cooker switches off. The only complaint I have with this machine is that the measurement markings on the inside of the pot are very difficult to read. But overall, I'm quite happy with it. It doesn't have much in the way of features, but it makes cooking whole grains a breeze.
Cold rice September 7, 2008 When I ordered the Zojirushi NHS-06 rice cooker, I expected it to keep the rice warm after it was cooked. Unfortunately, while other models have this prime feature and this one implied it did, the NHS-06 does not. I called Customer Service and arranged to return it in August. I had an E-mail saying you had received the cooker and were crediting my account $42.64. Please confirm. I expect to order another item in the near future. Thank you. S. Thackeray
Rice cooker April 29, 2008 Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker It works great though I stop it before it completes cooking to retain the extra moisture for the brown rice
Great Little Rice Cooker March 28, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great little rice cooker. Makes 2 cups with ease. Fast cook, and the pot cleans real easy. Use the included cup, and use the measurements on the side of the pan to fill with water. The rice will come out perfect every time.
Some things to consider. 1. If you have a family or cook more than 2-3 cups of rice, this is not the cooker for you. 2. Water will shoot out of the steam hole and go onto the counter. Nothing major though.
