Works great, just make sure that you need it. November 19, 2008 I bought this transformer, because the typical ones that you see at your run-of-the-mill electronics stores are not built for items like a laptop, printer, et al. I used it on my last overseas trip: it worked perfectly. It's not too big, but it is pretty heavy (a lot heavier than you would think in fact). But in the end you might not need it at all. I bought it because some no-nothing sales clerk at BestBuy said that if I didn't have a transformer and tried to plug my laptop into a European outlet it would "blow-up." But check your power cord. Under "Input" my computer cord gives me a range of voltages (ie. 100-240V). I'm in Salzburg right now with my computer plugged in and everything (no transformer) and it's running just fine. Moral: make sure you need it before you buy it.
Step Up & Down Transformer October 31, 2008 I have purchased one one Ebay for my X-box 360 (American) I looked at the fuses carefully and noticed they were cracked or blackened which means they got blown out.
On top of that when I finally bought some fuses at a nearby store and plugged it in, after 20 minutes it started smoking.
Now correct me if I am wrong, as I might be.
I live in Germany so I set the input-voltage (on the back) to 220, I plug in my xbox 360 into the 110v output section on the back?
I am thinking there is something wrong with the product or something to that effect, help??
Right voltage everywhere in the world! August 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Working perfectly fine, easy installation and fully usable all around the world, though a bit heavy for travelling with few luggage. You can use European devices (220V) in the US (110V) and vice versa by just switching the plugs. Great!
so far so good May 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have been using it for a couple weeks, and it's up to the expectation.
Minor issues: It's relatively heavy and you need to be careful about 'up and down' directions.
Works very well March 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This works very well. It does not buzz or give off heat. It is simple to use. It is a little larger than I expected. Anyone thinking about ordering a transformer like this should undertand that Watts equals volts multiplied by amps. You need to know what size transformer to get so it has enough power to do what you want to do.
