Product Description
This silvery little "pod" is actually a waffle iron, a modern day small appliance from Cuisinart. It bakes one large, traditional-style waffle. Customize yours by choosing one of the six brownness settings. There's a red light that lets you know the waffle iron is on and a green light that means it's ready to bake then ready to eat. An audible tone also alerts you. The baking plates are nonstick so your waffles pop right out. Other features include cool-touch handles. For storing, the lid locks in place, the cord wraps then the entire unit can be placed on its side.

4 out of 5 stars Okay but with reservations   July 21, 2010
Mary L. Bonaventure (RI - USA)
I purchased this waffle iron because my husband wanted regular old fashioned waffles. This waffle iron does cook homemade waffles well - the bell to let you know that they are done is terrific. However, I don't know how much 'abuse' this waffle maker will take. The hinge connecting it is 'wiggly' and I'm very careful handling the iron. But other than this waffle iron, there aren't any available anywhere except belgium waffle makers (which for some strange reason he doesn't like). So yes I am happy with it but I handle it carefully! But if you want a 'regular' waffle iron - go with this one.

4 out of 5 stars Many of These Reviews Are Wrong ... Or Outdated   July 14, 2010

I'm not sure if some of the older reviews here are of an earlier version of this item, or if they're reviewing Cuisinart's other non-Belgian wafflemaker (I'm thinking of the reviewer who thought this had modern styling) , but this item does NOT have a lock, nor does it stand on its side. Also, you should note that it's been discontinued, according to Cuisinart's website. One more thing-- the manual incorrectly indicates that it makes Belgian waffles, even though it only makes traditional ones.

5 out of 5 stars Best Waffle Iron Made   June 2, 2010

This is our second one. We used the first many years and it makes the best waffles. You spray a little PAM on the iron, and select a setting. We find that 4 is good. You close the iron and wait for the alarm bell telling you that the iron is hot. You put in the mix and close the lid. It beeps when the waffle is done. It comes out perfect every time.I only hope they keep making this model.

5 out of 5 stars Finally -Good Waffler   May 12, 2010

Today I used the new Cuisinart (traditional) wafflemaker. It's easy to use, perfect size for us (7 inch diameter waffle), best part is the temp control and signal when done. This doesn't take up much space on counter, either. I'm very pleased.
Although we have a Belgian style waffler, I wanted the traditional as well.
I'd gladly recommend the Cuisinart round traditional. Hint: if making your own recipe, use veg.oil rather than butter, add vanilla extract. I used 2 whole eggs plus one beaten egg white. Result was crisp exterior, feather light interior. Nice.

2 out of 5 stars Doesn't hold up well   February 18, 2010
L. Epnett
My waffle iron is now 13 months old, but we wanted to replace it after only 6 months. The non-stick coating has never been entirely non-stick, which has been frustrating, but worse still is that in its most recent use huge flakes of it came off with every waffle baked. The flakes didn't bake into the batter, they peeled away from the iron when the waffle is released. The unreliably non-stick coating is nearly gone and despite how well it heats and bakes, now that every waffle sticks tightly to the top surface, the unit is going too: into the trash. What a waste.
