Great product January 7, 2009 Got this for my mother-in-law for Christmas. She already has a George Foreman, but wanted a larger one WITH removable plates. I guess it was a beast to clean, now its a breeze. Good product, good gift, get good with the in-laws ;-).
wonderful product January 6, 2009 I have used and loved this grill for 4 years now and bought this one for my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas. My daughter-in-law did not feel she would like the grill but the week after Christmas she told me she had used it every night that week. The key is the removeable, easy to clean plates. I never would use this grill if the plates did not come off for cleaning. This is the only other electric appliance I use for cooking except for my range. We liked our first one so much, when it burnt out we bought an idenical one and now have an extra set of plates. Wonderful!
Great cooking appliance BUT... December 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is great with features like removable plates, custom temperature, and timer. The user manual/cook book is a great bonus. My only complaint would be that with regular use the plates have shed the "no-stick" coating. First this makes me concerned that the coating may have gotten into my food. Also, I now have to be very careful since everything from turkey breast to chicken to fish gets stuck to the grill plates. This "con" to all the "pros" has made me look for an entirely different grill all together.
Disapointing December 8, 2008 I had the first family size grill by George Foreman and I was very happy with it for 8 years until it broke down. I used it about 4 times a week and it made cooking frozen meat a breeze. The only thing I wished was the plates to be removable so I can clean them better.
Then I saw this grill and I said I must have this. So my husband and got this right away. Well I went to cook my steaks and it took forever to heat the grill up. Then when it was "hot", it did not sear the meat at all. I really just steamed the meat and never left any grill marks like the old model I had.
I thought this was just a first time use so I tried again. This time all it did was slowly cook the hamburgers and it steamed them. Getting very upset, I tried one more time with cooking some bacon. Well, the time it cooked 5 slices, (not crispy) I cooked a whole package of bacon in the frying pan. Therefore, that was the breaking point for me. I returned the grill back and purchased the Family Size Grill without removable plates. Now I am happy!
I just wish George had thought through the product a little more in testing before putting his name on it.
Now the George Foreman Grill is PERFECT November 26, 2008 I've been a huge fan of the George Foreman grills, even when you had a hard time cleanning the plates by hand, now all you have to do is remove the plates from the grill and place them in the dishwasher. Just don't make the same mistake I did by placing the plastic grease plate on the bottom of the dishwasher.I burt a hole in the plastic.I've been looking everywhere to buy the plastic part, and have been using a steel cookie sheet to catch the grease.
