Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
With its beautiful, easy-to-use design, this 5-cup automatic drip coffeemaker brews great-tasting coffee and nicely compliments any kitchen decor. The unit's thermal-insulated stainless-steel and carbon-fiber carafe functions not only as an attractive serving piece, but it also keeps 40 ounces of coffee hot for up to five hours. The coffeemaker offers a push-button control panel, with a digital display and blue LED indicator lights, which allows for simple programming of the automatic timer. The unit's pause-and-serve function makes it easy to pour a quick cup midbrew, and at the end of the brewing cycle, the appliance automatically shuts off for safety.

2 out of 5 stars good coffee poor design   December 18, 2008
This system makes good coffee when it is not busy overflowing onto your countertops. I have had this for a year and many times over the year it has allowed coffee to overflow out of the coffee basket and all over the countertops, just what you want first thing in the morning when you are going for a cup of coffee. I had to play around with the setting on my grinder to make sure the water did not back up in the coffee basket. I would not recommend this unit at this price.

4 out of 5 stars Great coffee machine   November 24, 2008

This is a great coffee machine. Makes great coffee and keeps it hot. The container is insulated, a bit heavy, but works well. The overall look of the coffee machine is great and stylish.

1 out of 5 stars Flimsy Parts   November 23, 2008

The lid on the carafe of this machine broke on us after only eight months. Compare this to cheaper machines we previously had for years. A new carafe is $60 - more than most run of the mill machines which will last longer (and more than the Consumer Reports recommended Best Buy, which is Black and Decker).

Will not purchase Saeco again. Rip off.

3 out of 5 stars Good idea but still doesn't avoid "thermos" flavor   October 16, 2008

I have great confidence in Saeco products; we've had one of Saeco's automatic espresso machines for years. I liked the idea of a pot that keeps coffee hot without burning the flavor. Unfortunately, while it keeps the coffee fairly hot and avoids the burned coffee problem, it slightly changes the flavor and making it taste faintly like a thermos. This is true of every other thermal coffee pot I've tried, but I had hoped with the usual quality of Saeco products, that they had found a solution. It's not awful, but if you're very picky about your coffee's flavor, this may disappoint. It's a pretty machine, although the water filling is a bit awkward. It takes a basket rather than cone filter which I think detract from the flavor as well. But the deal breaker is the change to the coffee's taste from being made/stored in a thermal container.
