Great Product July 21, 2010 Jen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't know how I got along without this slow cooker for so many years. I love the fact that it can be used in the oven or by using the warming plate it comes with. I have used it both ways. The tot is great for transporting - either hot or cold. Thanks for a great product!
Perfect meat loaf baker! July 21, 2010 M. R. Edwards (St. Louis MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This appliance may not look too fancy, but it has one dedicated use in our household and it is TOPS at it...making meatloaf. Since the first time I used an oblong West Bend slow cooker (more than 20 years ago) I have never cranked up the full size oven to cook a meatloaf. This machine cooks a gorgeous loaf of whatever blend you use without heating up the whole kitchen or drying out the food. Since it's countertop, it makes it so simple to squeeze bulb out any cooking fat. For a bonus, about 5 minutes before cooking is done I add cheese and onions layered on top for a wonderful cheeseburger effect.
LOVE IT! July 2, 2010 K. Redd I got my first West Bend Slow Cooker when we were married over 30 years ago. This is my third one. I use this at least once a week. When the glass lid on my last one broke and I couldn't find a replacement, I ordered this. I like how it has a tote. The lid doesn't seem as sturdy as the glass, but it may last longer. Also the side handles get hot so you have to use hotpads to remove the pan. I love the design that allows you to use the pan on the stovetop, plus put it in the fridge and dishwasher. Great product! Would recommend to everyone. Especially good for newlyweds and anyone who works full-time because it cooks all day.
I love my West Bend June 6, 2010 Sybil Mokry (Round Rock, TX USA) I bought my first West Bend slow cooker at Sears. I used it so much I needed a re-placement pot. The grill still worked. I bought another one and gave the old one to a charity. I wore out the second pot and just bought my third one from Amazon. I had tried other slow cookers and was never satisfied. The only one I liked was one that did not have a removable inside pot. I bought one that had a removable inside but never did like the way it cooked. This product cooks evenly and is re-movable for washing.
hot stuff May 24, 2010 Miss Shell (Baltimore, MD) I bought this West Bend slo-cooker to replace the slightly larger one I received as a wedding gift in 1980. The old orange(!)one was lined with baked-on teflon which was showing some wear, but when the new one arrived, I couldn't bear to throw the old one away--too many good memories--so now I use TWO! I've never used the bottom heating part separately, but it might be nice to cook something simple on it, like a few eggs or hot dogs, outside, on the patio.
It's not a crockpot (no heavy, breakable 'crockery' included) but slo-cooks just as well, with an adjustable heat dial. I like the rectangular shape, which allows me to use it on the narrow counter beside my stove and fit neatly and compactly into a cabinet. It's great for cooking a whole chicken, corned beef, lamb stews, pea soups, spaghetti carbonara, pulled pork--oh, lots of dishes! And I love the new sturdy, zippered carrier which will be great for bringing my pumpkin soup to autumn festivities.
