Poor quality and poor customer service! January 24, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After using this product for only a few months, the handle on the lid broke. The screw that holds the handle on, pulled through the threads. Clearly a defect. I called Rival customer service to get a new handle and was told I would have to order a new lid. Their waranty only covers the unit, not the lid. Very poor quality and very poor customer service. Stay away!
crockpot January 9, 2007 had seen one and wanted it. really good for holidays as can cook two sides at a time or a big ham or turkey. not good for just one person.
WAY TOO HOT! A Waste of space and money! January 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this crockpot and after several months of trying to figure it out I QUIT! I am not home to check on it. That is why I use a crockpot. SO dinner can be ready when I get home. So staying home to watch it is out of the question. Then why use a crockpot? I am looking at getting rid of it and calling the company to see if there is a recall. If there isnt there should be one! I think it is too dangerous to use. I am now looking at other makers of crockpots. I will never own another Rival. This crockpot was a waste of my money!
Slow cooker Quick to self destruct! August 1, 2006 As I provide non-profit catering services to charities, such as churches, homeless and children's shelters, my costs are critical. I cannot afford not to give the utmost care to my cookware, nor can I afford to replace it constantly. So I expect the products I buy to at least meet, if not exceed, their advertised purpose and quality.
I bought this Rival unit primarily for melting cheese for chip dips. Which seemed a quite simple task. On the first use I could smell the odor of hot electrical wiring. By the third use, the unit self destructed, no heat, no led's, no nothing. But at least it doesn't smell anymore or pose a fire hazard!
It is a shame; I really liked the divided insert. But I certainly will not be buying a replacement from Rival.

Danger! July 31, 2006 I bought this slow cooker because of its large size and bonus insert, after having been very happy with my small Rival crockpots for years. Unfortunately, this new crockpot has disappointed me and ruined several large roasts because it gets way, way too hot. Even the "Keep Warm" feature keeps liquids at a boil. I have found that in order to successfully cook tender pot roast, I use the "Low" setting for an hour or two and then let it switch to "Keep Warm" for the remaining 3 hours of cooking. This is for a 6 pound roast with several pounds of potatoes, carrots, celery, and onion, stuffed quite full. I wouldn't even try cooking small amounts of food in this crockpot.
