| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review Designed for the purpose of blending fast, nutritious smoothies, the Smoothie Elite does the job better than an ordinary blender and is easy to operate. The 56-ounce jar has measuring marks for adding just enough fruit, yogurt, and protein powder (or whatever you prefer in your smoothie) for either two or four servings. Running at 500 watts, the pulse-power motor blends at three different speeds--mix, smooth, and pulse--letting you control the consistency of your drink. The jar's shape pulls ingredients down to the center blade, ensuring that even larger foods mix evenly. Additionally, a unique stir stick in the center of the Smoothie Elite's jar breaks up air pockets during blending for more efficient mixing. This smoothie maker even has a special heavy-duty ice-crushing blade, so frozen drinks are blended into a consistent texture. A dispenser valve on the front of the unit eliminates spills so you can continuously mix and serve without a mess. This machine is an inexpensive alternative to ordering daily smoothies at a juice bar. It measures 8 by 9 by 17-1/4 inches and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. Instructions and a recipe book are included. --Cristina Vaamonde

after using it for several months May 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It looks great, it does leak at the base gasket. Once it unscrewed itself and the entire batch hit the floor. I cut a piece of gasket material and it does seal now. The idea of the spigot is good BUT I wouldn't get one with that feature as the cleaning presents a problem. Additionally, I sent the registration card into the MFG but it was returned 'address unknown'. One more thing: I thought of using it to blend hot soup but I'm in doubt of the effect on the plastic.
Good Smoothie Machine. But Kind Of Too Big For A Small Kitchen! October 6, 2005 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I got this Blue colored Back To Basics Smoothie Elite Blender a couple of years ago for my birthday and I know from reading the reviews for different models of this smoothie blender that some Amazon customers said they had problems with leaks and gears and blades breaking off and I'm sorry to hear that they had problems with it but as for myself I have had no problems with leaks and nothing has broken and I have enjoyed making smoothies and the only problem I have found is that this blender is very large and bulky and we have a tiny kitchen and this takes up so much room when it's up on the counter and it also takes up a lot of room when it's in the cabinet but anyway it's a good blender and I recommend it to anyone who likes smoothies and has a huge kitchen with lots of areas for storage!
Good! Kind Of Too Big Though! October 6, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

cheap and cheaply made August 11, 2005 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this because it was about the only one we could afford, and that should say it all. This blender is almost completely plastic and has no power at all. The spigot is useful, but you have to keep the blender running while you use the spigot, and the whole thing is a pain to clean. Not a long term commitment, but good for the occasional smoothie.
Loved it, then it BROKE November 17, 2004 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I LOVED this unit, if you are getting a smoothie maker, getting one with a spout is important. No blender is perfect so there will always be little chunks of ice, but the spout does not let them fall in the glass. The stir stick is also really useful for getting the ice to actually get chopped up. I also found the markings on the side of the blender to be useful, they tell you how much ice to liquid you should add.
Then it broke. I had it for about 3 months, I maybe used it once a week when the plastic gears that make the blade spin snapped right off and now it is useless.
