Reliable toaster November 16, 2008 Before I purchased this unit I read as many reviews as I could.I have owned several toaster ovens in the past and each of them died before their time. They would either burn one side of the toast of leave one side untoasted. This unit was selected because of a combination of a good reviews in consumers report and a fair price. I like the unit and it does a good job of browning toast, baking small personal pizzas and rolls. The temperature settings seem to be fairly accurate.
The item arrived on time, was well packaged and in excellent condition.
Not worth it November 12, 2008 This oven unfortunately does not work as a toaster, nor as an oven. Toasting is not even at all, leaves burn marks in certain areas and undertoasts in others. The oven is just too powerful for such a small space - I put something in to "heat up" and it ended up burning within less than one minute. I would not recommend this at all. I ended up returning it, and getting a different brand and model of toaster oven at a local dept store.
Oven is smaller than listed November 7, 2008 The measurements for this oven are incorrect. It is smaller than listed. The true measurements are H=7 1/2" L=15 1/2" D=10 1/2"
Smoking and Chemical Smell October 24, 2008 I bought this model because I have had a very similar model for 5+ years and it worked well so when it was time for a replacement, I was happy to find this oven at a good price. However, when I went to use this new model, smoke poured out of the 2 side vents and a chemical smell filled my kitchen. I immediately unplugged the oven and left it overnight to cool down. Thinking some moisture may have gotten into the oven during shipment, I tried it the next morning but the same thing happened. I obviously ended up returning this oven.
OK while waiting for the perfect toaster oven October 20, 2008 Overall, like most toaster ovens I have purchased over the years, this one cooks a little uneven -- this one cooks too much on the top and too little on the bottom -- except when it goes the other way around.
Good for warming up cold pizza, etc. Dries toast out a little. A good choice if want an alternative to a standard Black and Decker, and do not think that a basic toaster oven should cost over $50. (+ very eco-friendly when comparing it with using a full oven to warm something up.)
