Not so great... July 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this coffee maker in June 2008 and I already have a rubber band holding it together. The basket that holds the filter and coffee is opened by a release button on the side, and like wise closes by locking into place. I do make coffee 2 to 3 times a day, but the fact that the spring in the release/catch button is already broken is a disappointment. I have a rubber band that goes around the basket and coffee maker to keep it closed so that it can brew....otherwise the basket pops open and coffee leaks everywhre. But after getting everything in order it does make a good cup of coffee.
Short circuit? May 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Got the coffee maker and was running plain water through it as per setup instructions. When the brew cycle started it started to make loud popping or clicking noises. Did this through 3 cycles of water.
The noise seems to be coming from under the hot pad. This is not a matter of water on the pad. Does it when the carafe is taken off during brewing or heating.
Did make a good pot of coffee but will take it back over concern of a short circuit. Perhaps it is just this machine and not a problem with the model.
Great coffee pot for a reasonable price May 2, 2008 I've tried expensive coffee units down to Mr. Coffee type brands and this unit is the best I've had in many years. It's easy to use because you can fill the pot while doing other things (lid stays up); coffee ground area is separate from the water section so you don't accidentally pour water on your coffee grounds; no drip and easy to clean coffee pot; ground comparment swings out with a push of a button and basket comes out easy for washing; and display is on top rather than the bottom of the coffee pot so I don't have to turn on the light in the kitchen if I don't want to. It's about 4 weeks old so I can't address how long it will last.
Terrible Design April 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Couldn't find a worse designed coffee maker. First of all, the water reservoir opens towards you so that you have to get behind it somehow to fill with water.
The controls are on top of the coffee maker. I am 5ft tall and when the coffee maker is sitting on the kitchen counter, as it should be, there is no way I can see the controls to program the coffee maker. So the programming feature is useless to me.
I have the brew set on strong yet when using the same amount of coffee I have always used in my previous makers, the coffee is very weak.
The only good feature I could find is that the water pours from the caraffe without spilling all over.
Died in 2 months February 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Died in about 2 months. It wouldn't make any more coffee. Moving to a Bunn or Cuisinart or something. Black & Decker makes power tools. I should have known.
