In addition, the included table stand can be easily removed for wall mounting applications.Other features that distinguish the LC-32GA5U: HDMI, DVI-I and 2 HD component video inputs, and Sharp's proprietary Quick Shoot video circuit, which enables a fast response time of less than 16ms.

Amazon.com Product Description
Inject some liquid-crystal excitement into your personal computing and home theater viewing with Sharp's AQUOS LC-32GA5U Advanced Super View high-definition television. The 32-inch flat-panel set is picture-frame thin yet broad enough and vivid enough to transform your family room into a palace of world-class entertainment. With 1,366 x 768 native pixel resolution, the widescreen LC-32GA5U offers compatibility with high-definition video sources up to 720p. Two built-in speakers powered by 10 watts per channel render full-bodied stereo sound, and the set's table stand detaches for wall mounting (wall-mount brackets optional).

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be more affordable than their flat-panel plasma counterparts, which often (though not always) offer faster response times and higher contrast ratios.

Sharp's proprietary Quick Shoot video circuit ensures a lightning-quick response time of less than 16 ms for smooth-as-silk video and gaming graphics. The LC-32GA5U's Advanced Super View/black TFT (thin-film-transistor) screen offers exceptionally wide (170- by 170-degree) viewing angles and an extraordinary contrast ratio of 800:1 for super-black blacks.

Its high brightness (450 cd/m2) ensures wide dynamic range for vivid colors, great depth, and realism. You can place it anywhere--near windows, doors, or other light sources--and its picture will remain vivid. And, with its 60,000-hour lamp life, the backlight life is long enough to give you viewing pleasure for many years.

Connections consist of 2 high-definition component-video inputs, 1 DVI-I (Digital Visual Interface-Integrated) input for your PC, 1 HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) input, 3 composite-video inputs, 1 S-video input, and 1 RF input (HDTV reception may require an antenna). An audio/video output (composite- and S-video with stereo analog audio) facilitates hookup with a surround receiver, DVR, VCR, or other destination.

DVI-I is a direct-digital DVI terminal capable of transmitting both analog and digital video data. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV or monitor. HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.

What's in the Box
LCD TV, remote control, remote batteries, a detachable table stand, an AC power cord (designed for 110 to 125V), a cable clamp, a cable tie, and a user's manual.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing Quality   August 2, 2007
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

Up until the last couple of months this TV has performed beautifully, vivid picture, no streaking and amazing details (especially with DVD).

We've had this model for just over two years and we are now having daily shutdown problems with it. The TV will randomly shut down and will not turn back on for several hours. We've talked to Sharp's customer service and tried basic trouble shooting to no avail. I will say the wait time and their staff are courteous but I dislike being in the position to have to call them. Sharpe's final response to this is to bring it to a service center and pay for the repair. Fair enough since it's no longer under warranty but considering it's cost and the extra money paid expecting quality I'm left very dissatisfied with the ownership experience. Funny how things change, this will be the first (and by far most expensive) TV which only lasted two years before needing repair. The next closest TV Set (A Panasonic) to require repair was over 18 years old before it started losing picture quality. I know which brand I won't be buying or recommending in the future.

5 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for   November 9, 2005

Let me start off by saying, this is easily the best looking LCD HDTV you can get. I stood infront of about 20 different types and this Sharp, and one JVC tv looked the best.

I am using a HDMI cable for my HD Cable Box and wow. Top notch. I used a componant cables for my DVD player and it looks better than I thought. I can't wait til DVD players can start using 720p or 1080i.

The menus on this baby are so good looking and clear that they make your mouth water. Seriously. This is an easy TV to set up, plus it comes with different viewing settings like movie, game and several others.

When I first took this baby out of the box, I saw no plugs. Then I took this cover off in the back and poof, there they are. This TV comes with a couple of accessories that allow you to hide cables, so, just another plus.

I can go on, and on, and on about this TV.

The only down side about it is probably the remote. I set my cable box to it, and well, the buttons are way to sensitive. I press down, and I go down two channels. I press seven, I get seventy-seven. That's it. Nothing more about the remote.

Also there is a timer feature.

As far as HD hook ups go, it has:
(1) HDMI
(1) DVI
(2) Componant

I hope I was able to sway your choice torwards this masterpiece, Sharp Aquos 32", your my baby.

4 out of 5 stars Great Product, Lousy Return Policy   August 30, 2005

The television itself is great, but we wanted to return ours because the speakers are not detachable (the other post on this site saying that they are is just wrong -- read the downloadable manual). Amazon's policy, which appears on the product page but is certainly not highlighted, is that any TVs over 27 inches cannot be returned (except for damage during shipment, etc.). Nor will Sharp do an exchange or return. We would have been willing to shell out for return delivery and probably even an upgrade to a different model, but Amazon's policy is firm.

4 out of 5 stars Best LCD out there!   August 16, 2005
If you're looking at Sharp for LCD HDTVs, you definately know they are the current leader (vs Samsung and LG panels) for LCD manufacturer. The Aquos provides great color and vibrance although the blacks are somewhat dull (dark gray), but that is the fallback of this technology, not the unit itself.

I purchased a 32" Aquos GA5U model about a month ago and am very happy with it. The picture quality is outstanding. You will lose yourself in the images you see. I currently have a HD feed from DTV via HDMI and it looks GREAT.

I also (not anymore) had a HD-Up converting DVD Player connected using HDMI. It looked amazing... it was almost as clear as the HD feed (720p mode). Now it's hooked up via Component video since I got the HD receiver.

My PS2 (composite cables for now... ordering component cables as soon as I can find them) looks great! I set it up to Widescreen mode (along w/ STRETCH on the monitor) and it's pretty damn great looking for a 480i signal... I can't even imagine what the component cables would do for the ps2!

Ok... now, for the actual review of the TV.

The remote control is huge... but functions as a universal unit. Most enthusiasts (like myself) would use a different univ. remote but this one works just fine.

The unit has a memory for each input so you don't have to adjust the picture settings everytime you switch devices. You can also choose which input signal to use (ie, component/composite/s-video) when using an input signal. This way, you can watch 480i (if you really wanted to...) via S-Video or composite OR use 480p via component.

The picture itself needed some tuning before the proper levels were found. Out of the box, the unit will amaze you! But after time, you realize you need to make a few minor adjustments. Blacks display as really dark gray... but that's the limitation of LCD and Plasma right now... I've heard Sony's (Samsung panel) display the best black... but how often you do stare at black?! I'm sure that vibrant colors and response times are more critical =P

The audio (10wx2) is decent. It should be replaced by a receiver w/ capable speakers... but it's quite functional for the bedroom (my application). The bass is reproduced rather well... although certain frequencies will cause the monitor to vibrate slightly. Some more insulation on the speakers would have been nice.

What more is there to say... the unit is fantastic, the features are enough for most users and the picture quality is breath-taking!

If you're waiting for a faster response time (12 ms models coming soon from Sharp) or better blacks (who knows when), then a few months and a few $$$ more will get it for you. If you're happy w/ this monitor (16 ms, which is on par with most direct view CRT TVs), then this is the best time to buy. Enjoy life at home. It's time to relax.

I work 50+ hours a week... it's niec to relax at home away from friends... I'm only 22 x_x
